Tranquille Farm Fresh Returns to its Ancient Grain Roots Tranquille Farm Fresh is returning to its roots as it expands Kamloops locally grown food supply.  In 1869 the flour mill located at the mouth of the Tranquille Creek turned wheat deliveries from as far afield as Enderby into 600,000 pounds of flour. Heavy horses were a part of everyday farming at Tranquille.  Tranquille Farm Fresh hosted 6 heavy horse teams and their teamsters from the Inland Draft Teamsters Association (IDTA) on May 16, 17, and 18th as they plowed and seeded heritage grains .

Majestic Percherons, Belgians, Clydesdales, Fjords, Suffolk Punch and Friesian draft horse will return this coming fall to harvest these grains with heavy horses and classic farm equipment including a 1922 Thrasher, and milled with a vintage seed cleaner, and hand cranked flour mill.
Tranquille Farm Fresh operates and manages the historic 148 year old Tranquille Farm, the Tranquille Farm Fresh market and numerous eco/agra tourism activities. They are located at the Tranquille On the Lake development site. IDTA started in the 1980’s with the intention of combining Heavy Horse and Light Horse fellowship throughout the central interior of BC. They promote ‘horses in harness’, farming with horses and fellowship.

Our website is undergoing some changes to better reflect this seasons activities.Thank you for your patience and understanding, we hope to be done very soon!!

“The CORN MAZE”  will open again August 15 2013

The Market

The historic calf barn has been restored and houses the Tranquille Farm Fresh market!  It is a charming piece of a bygone era with it’s unique design. We have tried to maintain as much of the past as possible during the renovation process. We are also bringing the Maternity Barn online this summer, so lots more space to accommodate private bookings, workshops, the history project etc.

The barn contains our post harvesting station where your Tranquille Farm Fresh produce is cleaned, packaged, and cooled (all our items, such as stainless steel sinks are recycled from the site). It also contains our retail market full of produce from our gardens. With the morning sun bouncing off of its freshly whitewashed walls you will experience a taste of history while you are being embued with the vitality of today’s life and pulse on an urban farm.
